And the livin was almost easy..

Earlier this morning Rhett Bostrom saw all the tell tale signs of beach day preparations.. Beach bags being packed,  baby bottles being pre mixed, baby apple juice hydrating, bathing suits going on...
And well, Rhett Bostrom just knew that if he didnt act fast, he wouldn't be included. So, after a quick escape out the back door and a firm bottom planting next to the stroller while ignoring all calls to come back inside, Rhett Bostrom was in the mix.
Once mom put on the life preserver, Rhett Bostrom was good to go. Boat time!!
But, much to my dismay, did Rhett get to join the fun at the beach club??
Well, no, no he did not. Someone was left in the boat!!!
Poor Rhett Bostrom, tied to the dock for the day...5 whole hours!!!! There had better be ice cream on the way home...

Rhett does Espresso Love

Nothing like starting the day off with a good double shot latte!
All the way to the last drop!
Off to the boat!

Ahhhh island life

Well we made it. It was a long, long trip, especially that last 100 miles, but then we were here!!
The one big bummer of island life is that my Grammy makes me wear dog diapers in the house since she knows about my,ahem, pee problems...
I secretly don't mind them that much since they remind me of when I lived in NYC with my mom and wore dog clothes every day. So, here we are, 3 dogs, 2 horses, one baby and mom and dad all crashing at Grammys house on MV. We don't even know when we are going back!!! Weeeee!!
Rhett Bostrom is loving life again. No more boring 100 degree days stuck in the house, now it's full of beach and boat rides, and long walks chasing birds!!
Rhett Bostrom is NOT going home anytime soon....

Whine time...

Poor Rhett Bostrom... A nine hour car day (again) and mom goes in to get McDonald's... Yay! Lunch for Rhett Bostrom, about time I think... But no. She goes right by me, and guess who gets some?
Him. The baby. The same one who has been having tasty bottles all day that I have been trying to snatch from behind because us fur kids are starving too!! And then he gets McDonald's too??
Unfair. Rhett Bostrom is NOT pleased. Definitely sulk time with Wilkes for the rest of the drive.

That baby

So. Day three of the never ending road trip has begun... And the baby has really begun to be part of the backseat dog pack. Last night after Rhett Bostrom was kicked out of bed so mom and dad could sleep I went right down to snuggle with my new fave brother--
And was promptly kicked out of there too and put to bed in my dog bed. Ugh. Rhett Bostrom does not like dog beds, really really prefers real beds. Anyways though, about baby brother Colt. This morning, we were all up getting ready for our morning walk, and Baby Colt got right into the mix.
Us dog brothers have gotten pretty used to our fourth brother hanging around, but he has developed a new habit that we are not really sure about... He wants to leash us up and yank on us!
He even got ahold of Rhett Bostrom's (yes, they leash me even though I am practically human, it's weird.. Apparently they think Id run away if I were loose, which I would...) leash in the car yesterday!
We are going to have to talk to the little control freak about this... 415 miles to the ferry!!!

Leg two: check!

We have arrived!!! 2 days into the long drive that feels like it never ends has wrapped up, and after a quick stroll around the farm with dad while mom took care of her horses, we got some water (finally!) and our long overdue dinner...
Only one question left... Since Rhett Bostrom has settled in for the night, I wonder where everyone else is planning to sleep??
Well, don't know, don't care;) Rhett Bostrom is out for now!
Almost 1500 miles down!! MV, we'll be on the 5:15PM ferry tomorrow!! Weee

Bumped.

Rhett Bostrom prefers to drive shotgun, usually in mom's lap, but alone is fine. This trip, I have been bumped! First to the passenger side backseat behind dad,  which I was ok with-- good views out the window and still ahead of Wade and Wilkes.
But today, since Wade got carsick yesterday, he got passenger side lefty...
He has been VERY happy with the move up and has only required one extra potty stop today.. Which is huge since yesterday we stopped every 2 hours for him! But, how does this affect Rhett Bostrom you may ask on this 650 mile journey??????
Back, back row, right corner. No view, no cracked window, no baby throwing rice rings at me through the ride. Ugh. Have spent the day in full recline pretending this is not happening. NOT pleased. Kiss up dog brother Wilkes, or as mom and dad call him, the " best dog ever" has been back back left since they bumped him out earlier today from his copilot duties, and he has been perfect ever since! Hate that guy.
It's hard being unappreciated, sigh.

On the road again

Good morning from Niota, TN!! Poor Rhett Bostrom is exhausted, had to stay up all night to guard the door in the room we were staying in and bark at any noises to keep the baby safe... I'm sure after 16 hours in the car mom and dad enjoyed that alot all night. In between barks I made sure to curl up on top of the baby, snugglesesh!!!! But mom kept making me get off of him... I don't know why she was up all night anyways, clearly Rhett Bostrom had it under control.... But, after a night like that, it's time for the boys to have a good car snooze...
Wade and Rhett Bostrom have left it up to Wilkes to co-pilot today...
After a long night, we (and apparently mom who is about to nap with us!) needs a sleep break... Poor dad, behind the wheel again... Carlisle, PA here we come!!

The difficult traveler

Who is the troublesome traveler today?? Is it the 10 month old baby who has been stuck in a carseat for 11 hours so far??
No, no, not him. Also not wonderful Wilkes who hasn't made a peep for hours.... Nor is it Brody or Ynze, horse brothers have been great and quiet out back.... Definitely not Rhett Bostrom who has been acting sentry for motorcycles or trucks to bark at...
Well, that leaves one culprit. Wade Tatum. It all started with a low whimper from the back, which turned into loud squeaking, and him hurling himself off his seat and out of his car straps...
... And throwing himself into the front seat where he jumped onto the mat in front of mom and pooped. Very ashamedly, but right there, in the car.... Off to find a pet friendly rest stop... 300 miles to go!!

Little brother, annoying brother

Well, baby Colt has gotten Rhett Bostrom back for all the bark wake ups I've been giving him over the last few weeks.... He woke up at 7 am, and started squealing along to the radio while having his bottle.
This would be great, except Rhett Bostrom likes his beauty rest and does not ever wake up before 10am.
And so, a very grumpy Rhett Bostrom is up 3 hours early, and assuming position for the day.
Poor mom and dad.... Now that I'm up I'm letting everyone know that Im a little grumpy by barking out the window at all passing motorists. Brother Wilkes is helping out from the backrow, and Wade.. well, fur-brother Wade is still sound asleep despite all the baby and dog sounds of the morning... sure he'll add to the mix when he wakes up!

After all, we have another 10+ hours to go today!!

On the road!!

So, Rhett Bostrom is preeeetty smart. You don't get much by me. So when mom started packing up this week, I had a feeling something was going on and started to act, well, widgey. On edge. Concerned I was being left. Unfortunately Rhett Bostrom is a super deep sleeper, so when the car was packed up at 1 am, I missed it all until dad scooped me out of bed and into my carseat.
Took me a minute to wake up... So then we pulled into the barn, and mom actually expected me to wander out into 9 empty acres with her in the dark because she didnt want to go alone. Hello?? Neither does Rhett Bostrom! It is dark and scary out there!!!
Plus, the horses, who normally I like to chase, look like ghosts out there. No thanks, Rhett Bostrom is staying in the nice air conditioned escalade where I can bark at the horses while their being wrapped for the trip and wake up the baby, duh.
So, 2:30am, and we are off..... Tonights stop, Niota, TN here we come!

Rhett Bostrom is alive!!

Mom had a rough day today. She sent me in to get a full body shave (for some reason they put me under full anesthesia for this... It's not like I'm known to be unfriendly to strangers or anything... Oh wait ;) well... I was fine. I had a great day growling at unsuspecting groomers and vet workers and hurling my 27lb body at them while they tried to sedate me to work on my shave.... Mom meanwhile cried most of the day since she was worried about me going under, and called the clinic repeatedly to make sure I was ok... What a worrywart... I'm not going to lie though, I was pretty happy to get in the car with her and Aunt Alley at 5pm after 8 long hours of attack mode...
After my initial wiggling and kisses for mom and Aunt Alley, I spent the rest of the ride (and day) in a woozy trance.
Mom says its the calmest I've ever been! I was so sleepy I didn't even bark to wake up the baby when he went to bed, which is normally my favorite thing to do!! Oh well, there's always tomorrow, and I am feeling great about my new haircut!!

Stormin' Norman

Well, Rhett Bostrom has a little secret phobia. Thunderstorms. Last time we had one, mom found me in her bathroom panic peeing on her shower mat. I don't know why, I was scared and it was there!! So anyways, early this morning I heard a tell tale rumble of thunder, and evacuated the dog bunks.
Obviously my two dog brothers noticed I got up so they did too. Well, mom and dad woke up and were worried about me, but more worried about the fact that I had disappeared from my bed... Apparently they were worried I would be peeing in the house to avoid the rain.. (See, I also have a phobia about my feet getting wet and do not use the dog door in times of rain. Ever.) long story short, after 30 minutes of a 5:30am Rhett Bostrom hunt by mom and dad, they found me curled up in Dad's closet and forced me out into the storm to go potty!
I of course tried to hide on the covered porch and take a pee there where it was dry, but,
Dad came out and used his foot to herd me out into the rain!! As if I was an animal or something!!
I tried to humor him and pretend to walk towards the rain, but after a few fake outs he walked into the rain with me to make me go! The indecency!!
Rhett Bostrom was NOT a happy camper. At all. You just wait Dad, you just wait... (What am I wearing you ask? An anti anxiety monogrammed thunder shirt my Grammy got me.. It works! I never go out in a storm without it!) but anyways, back to poor neglected me, sad wet Rhett Bostrom... I made sure to mope around all morning so Mom would would feel bad, and let me spend the afternoon curled up on the white couch I'm not allowed on... i know this really sticks it to Dad since he hates it when I'm up there!! Rhett Bostrom = winner!

Rhett Bostrom; solo stylin'

Today was a great day. Well, it started not so great because mom skipped our morning walk and left us home alone for the morning instead... Us furkids got our frustration out by climbing on the kitchen counter and munching a full container of baby formula, a full canister of chocolate protein powder , and, for good measure, a few packs of gum. Mom seemed mad about that when she got home, but that was when things got good...

Well, first I was a little upset because mom let us in the car and wade got shotgun... But then... Mom dropped off Wade and Wilkes  (There was something about how i'm not allowed at the groomers because of that attack on the groomer last year? no idea what they are talking about, wink wink...) but, point being, mom kept just me in the car for the day with her!! Rhett Bostrom and mom fur-ever!!!

Ok, Rhett and Mom and baby Colt
Forever, she kept him around too... I just can't escape that face...

But, all in all, it was a good day, solo style
